Looking up the issue online, I find several forums in which people have mentioned similar issues:
It is possible to click "OK", and the installation will continue - however, a few minutes further down the line a similar error pops up again, and the installation is aborted and rolls back. Uninstalled again and deleted all FSX files I could find on my PC (C:/Program Files, ETC.), and reinstalled. I uninstalled then reinstalled, still got the message. I built a new PC with Vista Premium 32bit, transferred everything over from the old (WinXP Home), and got the above error message when i tried to open FSX. Please see the application event log for more detail" The application has failed to start because its side- by- side configuration is incorrect.
